Study BCom Accounting

The programme provides students with a sound knowledge to understand the essential concepts of Accounting and to teach them valuable theoretical principles that can be applied to practical issues and problems. It gives them the opportunity to learn more about a wide range of related topics and discover the reasons why and the ways in which organisations do their financial reporting.

Students will learn how to analyse situations that may occur in the workplace, make comparisons between various ideas and concepts and learn to solve problems. The programme will also help them to become skilled communicators and decision makers who will be able to take lead in their organisations.

The BCom Accounting Programme Is Ideal For...

Individuals who

  • wish to pursue a career in accounting, management accounting and public finance accounting
  • are comfortable working with numbers and statistics
  • have an analytical outlook on solving problems

Admission Requirements For BCom Accounting

  • NSC (Gr 12) with admission to Baccalaureus studies with at least 30% in the language of learning and a pass in Mathematics or 60% and above for Mathematical Literacy or
  • National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4, with at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning and a pass in Mathematics or 60% and above for Mathematical Literacy, as specified by UMALUSI.
