The diploma in Tourism Management equips students with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to adapt to the ever changing tourism industry. With this exciting programme the students will combine practical as well as theoretical learning to keep up with the international service delivery standards in the tourism industry. Each year group undertake an educational tour to various places in South Africa - costs are included in the program fees for the year. A total of 300 practical hours in different sectors of the tourism industry must be undertaken in the workplace exposing students to the tourism industry.

Admission Requirements

NSC (Gr 12) with entrance to Diploma studies or National Certificate (Vocational) with the minimum requirements for entrance to Diploma studies, as specified by UMALUSI

Work Integrated Learning (WIL)

Experiential learning is training gained in the tourism sector. This will enable the student to apply theoretical and practical knowledge gained from his / her studies in the working environment. Experiential learning is divided into two sections: practical work experience and compulsory educational tours.

Practical work experience: Each student receives a logbook that stipulates information and guidelines with regard to practical hours. There are three sections that are linked with the theoretical subjects (over the three year period) from which a 100 hours should be completed for each section. A minimum of 300 hours are therefore completed within the three study years.
