The Tourism programme focuses on offering high quality training. This equips the students with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to adapt to the ever changing tourism industry. With this exciting programme the students will combine practical as well as theoretical learning to keep up with the international service delivery standards in the tourism industry.
National Senior Certificate (Gr 12) or equivalent qualification with admission to diploma studies
Experiential learning is training gained in the tourism sector. This will enable the student to apply theoretical and practical knowledge gained from his / her studies in the working environment. Experiential learning is divided into two sections: practical work experience and compulsory educational tours.
Practical work experience: Each student receives a logbook that stipulates information and guidelines with regard to practical hours. There are four sections that are linked with the theoretical subjects (over the three year period) from which a 100 hours should be completed for each section. A minimum of 400 hours are therefore completed within the three study years.
