More About Somatology

The Somatology programme offers the student the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills to become a professional somatologist. The diploma includes advanced make-up techniques as well as spa management so that students can reach their full potential and be competitive candidates in the field. Students complete the course with an international qualification (CIDESCO, ITEC, Aesthetic Therapist) which qualifies them to work on a cruise liner. With the diploma students also have the opportunity to enter into a teaching qualification.

Body Therapy I - Practical and Theory : Body analysis, massage, waxing and manicure
Anatomy and Physiology : Basic systems of the body, muscles and skeletal system
Science, Chemistry and Physics : Energy, matter and electricity
Sales and Marketing : Marketing, promotions and sales
Psychology : Motivation, emotions and personality
Nutrition : Metabolism, meal planning and basic elements

Soma Techniques II - Practical and Theory : Specialised skincare, aging skin and acne
Body Therapy II - Practical and Theory : Specialised body treatments, slimming and heat therapy
Anatomy and Physiology : Lymphatic system, digestive system
Science, Chemistry and Physics : Ingredients and composition of foods
Sales and Marketing : Business plan, layout and location of salon
Psychology : Memory, psychological problems and therapy
Nutrition : Links between diet and disease

Soma Techniques III - Practical and Theory : (Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Bridal make-up, photography make-up and permanent make-up)
Spa Therapy : Spa management and spa treatments
Anatomy and Physiology : Specialized massage and exercises
Science, Chemistry and Physics : Laser therapy, chemical peel and micro needling
Nutrition : Holistic approach on health

Work Integrated Learning (WIL)

Every student has to complete 400 hours of practical experience in a salon. This helps our students to fully understand the work environment they will be entering and prepare them sufficiently for all situations at a salon or spa.
